Steve,

Did you read the "Legistrative Lowdown" section of Auto Body Business this month? (page 8 ) There was a short article about Sen. John C. Rafferty Jr. being up-set about his first hand experience with Insurer Steering.

Do you think it could make a difference? Or just be another round of "Now you see it.... - .... Now you don't".

Fred,
I would hope the Senator's concerns will make a difference however it is not like the DOI is not aware of the problem. We have a commissioner who told us shortly after he took over the office he is not overly concerned about consumer steering. We have met with the Ario on several occasions and when the steering topic is brought up it is quickly dismissed. HB2041 is a perfect example of the direction Pa is heading. We met with the Commissioner and his staff over a year ago ...Long before Senator Rafferty's Resolution and asked for an investigation into insurance company steering. They promised, they promised, they promised...... For your information, PCTG has met with the past 3 Insurance Commissioners who have promised investigation into our concerns and the steering just gets worst. I do not expect to see a change unless a "true" consumer's advocate takes over the position. A DOI not taking direction from the Insurance Federation would make a ton of difference in Pa.

Regards,
Steve
